Transformative Justice

Signature Healthy Lifestyles Program

The Transformative Justice Healthy Lifestyles Program (HLP) is dedicated to addressing the distinct challenges of individuals aged 12-26 with a history of violent offenses. Recognizing the ongoing brain development in this demographic, we advocate against prolonged incarceration to prevent the wasteful depletion of social capital and the perpetuation of generational trauma. We believe that specialized care, different from what is offered in community mental health settings, is necessary to help individuals involved in the justice system. HLP is an evidence-based, culturally responsive, and strengths-based cognitive behavioral intervention that treats criminal behavior as an identity problem. It emphasizes the importance of addressing the root causes of violent behavior, such as mental health, and focuses on breaking the cycle of violence and fostering individual resilience and the development of a prosocial identity and healthy lifestyle.

The HLP is a minimum of 52 sessions of manualized individual therapy for ages 18 - 26. They need to be ready to engage in treatment AND BELIEVE CHANGE IS POSSIBLE. Treatment focuses on helping individuals find their “why.”
